MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MARCH 10, 2022 — Undersecretary Mary Liza Diño has been reappointed for another three-year term as the Chairperson and CEO of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).  FDCP Chairperson and CEO Diño took her oath before Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez in a virtual ceremony this Wednesday. Also present in the oath-taking ceremony were representatives from DTI and the FDCP employees. 

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MARCH 10, 2022 — In celebration of National Women's Month this March, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is holding its second Cine Filipina featuring a lineup of film screenings, talkbacks, panel discussions, and activities available throughout the month on the FDCP Channel platform.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MARCH 8, 2022 — To further promote film as an art form and encourage scholarly research on Singapore and Asian cinema, the Asian Film Archive (AFA) has organized a programme of eighteen Southeast Asian films curated by programmer Patrick F. Campos, screening at the Oldham Theatre in Singapore.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, MARCH 3, 2022—After holding the Film Ambassadors’ Night virtually last 2021 because of the pandemic, the celebration finally returned as an in-person event at the newly renovated cultural treasure, the majestic Metropolitan Theater, last Sunday, February 27. Filmmakers, performers, artists, film workers, members of the media, and supportive friends and family celebrated a night of cultural pride at the 6th edition of the Film Ambassadors’ Night, hosted by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Last Tuesday, at the grand press conference for this year's Film Ambassadors' Night, I was able to personally meet our friends after two years of virtual press cons. It was so heart-warming to hear that they appreciate the things that the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) does for them and other audiovisual workers — not just the trainings but also the safe filming programs in partnership with the National Registry. It is refreshing and invigorating to hear that the work you do affects people in positive ways. Ralph Waldo Emerson says, "To leave the world a bit better... to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived — that is to have succeeded." Indeed. If there is anything that I would like to leave in my time as head of the FDCP, it is the thought that I was able to do what I can with the opportunity that I had to be a part of making things better for people.
